Minimal. Just feel the energy. Very concentrated, at peace. Surrendering into stillness. Now ready to be open, present and curious.
— Navina Neverla
Welcome: my name is Navina, a cultural hybrid and nomad with a background in the visual arts — a diploma from HFBK Hamburg in Visual Communication [Moving Image | Timebased Media | Video Installation] and an MA in Creative Practice (The Dance Professional Practice Pathway) from Trinity Laban & Independent Dance, London. This led me to being mainly a creator in performance art; alongside my art I work in cultural management and curation.
As an artist I think out of the box, cross disciplines and approach work holistically — seeing beyond the categories of art forms. My work is collaborative, often conceptual, and what I call culturally queer (in contrast to queer culture).
Lately I have been concerned with ritualistic practices: their clear, repetitive structure opens the opportunity to merge fragmented aspects — urban shamanic rituals and heightened states of awareness. Recurringly I work with site-specific situations, duration and audience participation. Liminality, identity, limits and transcendence are reoccurring themes.
